The meeting was held in Moscow on the development of the production of veterinary medicinal products in the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEC) on November 29. Representatives of EEC, regulatory authorities of the EAEC countries, unions and associations, manufacturing enterprises, including the management of the Shchelkovo Biocombinat, attended the event.

The development of the market of veterinary drugs is the basis for ensuring biological safety and one of the indicators of the state of the livestock sector in the EAEC countries. Representatives of the countries of the Union are interested in increasing the share of veterinary drugs produced in the EEAC states, increasing their competitiveness both on the domestic and foreign markets.

The formation of a single economic space implies the creation of a common market for medicines and, in particular, the establishment of uniform rules for the regulation and circulation of preparations for veterinary use. It is important to take into account the epizootic situation in the territory of the countries of the Union. In recent years, the situation has been unfavorable for a number of infectious and especially dangerous animal diseases in various countries, which leads to the restriction of trade in products of animal origin. All these factors confirm the great importance of preventive measures in livestock production in order to ensure the normal functioning of the agro-food market common to the EAEC countries, said Polina Smyshlyaeva, Deputy Director of the Veterinary Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

Russian legislation in the sphere of the circulation of medicines is the most stringent among the legislations of the countries of the Union and is most consistent with international requirements. In particular, the production of veterinary products must meet the GMP requirements. Shchelkovo biocombinat is the leading Russian enterprise manufactures veterinary immunobiological products, which meet the GMP and ISO standards.

The participants of the meeting expressed the common opinion that for the sustainable development of the veterinary products, the Union needs to establish an effective mechanism for state-to-state cooperation in this field. Currently, the Eurasian Economic Commission is developing a plan of measures to develop the production of veterinary products in the member states of the EAEC.
