The anti-rabies vaccine from the strain “Schelkovo-51” inactivated liquid cultural (Rabikov)
Preventive and forced vaccination of cattle, reindeer, horses, sheep and goats against rabies.
The vaccine is a homogeneous suspension of light grey color, which stratifies the storage of loose sediment to form a light grey color, which is broken by shaking in a homogeneous slurry. The vaccine is manufactured from the rabies virus (strain “Schelkovo-51”) inactivated by β-propiolactone with an addition of 20% colloid aluminum hydroxide (HOA). The immunogenic activity of the vaccine is at least 1 IU /cm3.
The vaccine is administered subcutaneously from 3 months of age the in the following doses: cattle - 5 cm3; reindeer, sheep and goats - 3 cm3; horses - 2 cm3. Primary vaccination is carried out once, with subsequent revaccination in one year and later it should be carried out once every two years. With the threat of infection emergency vaccination is urgently implemented. It is carried out not later than 48 hours after the probable infection, wherein the vaccine is administered twice with an interval of 14 days in doses indicated above. In the territories permanently unfavourable in terms of rabies, animals should be vaccinated twice with an interval of 30-50 days with a subsequent revaccination every two years. It is forbidden to vaccinate suspiciously diseased animals in terms of rabies.
With initially vaccinated animals the immune system begins to form by the 5th-7th day, reaching maximum intensity in 30-40 days, and lasts for 1 year. After revaccination, held in 30-50 days, the protective reaction of the organism increases and stressful immunity lasts for two years.
The vaccine is packaged into 10; 20; 100; 200 cm3 bottles of suitable capacity.
The vaccine is stored and transported in a dark place at a temperature from 2 to 8°С. It is allowed to transport and store the vaccine at a temperature not above 20°С for no longer then 5 days.
Shelf life - 24 months.
