The anti-rabies vaccine inactivated dry cultural from the strain “Schelkovo-51” for dogs and cats (Rabikan)
Purpose:
The vaccine is intended for preventive vaccination of dogs and cats against rabies.
Description and characteristic:
In appearance, the vaccine is a dry porous mass of yellow-brown color, soluble in distilled water for 1-2 minutes without the formation of flakes and sediment.
The vaccine is made of inactivated β-propiolactone rabies virus strain "Schelkovo-51", lyophilized in a protective environment.
Method of vaccination:
Before application, the dry vaccine should be restored to the original volume and administered subcutaneously from 2 months of age in the following doses: cats - 1 cm3, dogs weighing up to 10 kg - 1 cm3, dogs weighing more than 10 kg - 2 cm3. In the regions free from rabies, prophylactic immunization of dogs and cats is carried out once, with subsequent revaccination after one year and later it should be carried out once every two years. Emergency vaccination is carried out within 48 hours after probable infection of animals. The vaccine is administered twice with an interval of 14 days in recommended doses.
In the territories permanently unfavourable in terms of rabies, for prophylactic purposes animals should be vaccinated twice with an interval of 30-50 days and subsequent single revaccination once every two years. Animals which have been previously immunized against rabies are vaccinated once every two years.
Immune response:
The vaccine provokes the formation of immune response toward the causative pathogen of rabies in primarily vaccinated animals in 5-7 days after its single administration which reaches its maximum in 30-40 days with a duration of 1 year. After repeated vaccination, with revaccination in 30-50 days, the immunity is maintained for 2 years.
Production form:
The vaccine is packaged into 2; 4; 10 cm3 bottles of suitable capacity.
Storage and transportation conditions:
The vaccine is stored and transported in a dark place at a temperature from 2 to 8°C or at any sub-zero temperatures. Transportation of the vaccine at a temperature not above 25°C for no longer than 10 days.
Shelf life - 24 months.
